We are so excited to be running a School of Biblical Foundations & Missions alongside our Discipleship Training School this Spring! We have a total of 16 students which is more than a typical Spring trimester. We have not run a Spring SBFM since 2012 and are so blessed to have a number of students from the Fall 2017 DTS coming right back to join us for the next phase of their ministry preparation.
The foundational verse for the SBFM helps the students keep their academic studies in proper perspective:
“But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ.”
– Philippians 3:7-8
As we train young people for ministry, we endeavor to remain humble regarding education, “achievements”, and “accomplishments”. We remember that our identity is found in Christ alone; we are His children, His heirs. We need no more credentials than that to be accepted by God. Our primary goal must be to cultivate our relationship with Him and from that foundation flows the empowerment to reach out to others with the good news of the Kingdom of God.
